Monthly retail sales at clothing and clothing accessory stores (NAICS 448) provide a higher-frequency view of the industry:

  • Q1 2025 PCE on clothing and footwear (nondurable goods): $533.7 billion annualized, seasonally adjusted (BEA via FRED, DCLORC1Q027SBEA).
  • Q4 2024: $528.8 billion.
  • Q3 2024: $523.4 billion.
  • The steady quarterly increases reflect a market that has fully recovered from the pandemic trough.
